Itinerary
Day 1 - Barossa Food & Wine Experience
Your first stop is Pindarie Wines, a family owned and award winning cellar door. A family winemaker will share the story of this stunning property and will lead you through tastings in the all-charm sandstone stables converted into a cellar door. Then, it’s coffee and cake on the verandah, or in winter, cosied up around the fire. There’s time for fun photos by a haystack framed by bucolic views dominated by shiraz vines.
Next you will head to the main street of Tanunda, where you will have some free time to explore the charming boutiques, galleries and local shops.
Enjoy a photo stop at Mengler Hill Lookout, with fabulous sweeping views across the Valley, before continuing on. Lunch is at the beautiful Lambert Estate, with panoramic vineyard views, halls of local art, and a sun-drenched balcony in summer or by a giant crackling fire midyear. It’s a private party where you will be treated to wine tastings along with family anecdotes and wine notes. After a hearty two-course lunch, why not take your coffee and 'a Chocolatier' (chocolate port) out on to that balcony.
Chateau Tanunda celebrates over 130 years of winemaking history, and is viewed by many as the birthplace of the Barossa wine industry. Home to some of the oldest Shiraz wines in the world, you will be enjoy a guided walk around this magnificent property, while enjoying a taste of their wine.
And then it's on to Maggie Beer's Farm Shop, where you will have time to browse the collection for souvenirs to take home, or perhaps enjoy an afternoon treat with a tea/coffee (own cost).
Finish the day with a drive along Seppeltsfield Road, one of the Barossa's most iconic landscapes. As you wind down this historic palm-lined road, you'll pass through a tapestry of lush vineyards, rolling hills, and heritage sights.
Day 2 - Kangaroo Island Experience
An early start this morning for your coach and ferry transfer to Penneshaw, where you will meet your coach driver for your nature based tour of Kangaroo Island.
Visit Seal Bay Conservation Park where you will be taken on a beach walk with an experienced guide and be amongst a colony of rare Australian sea lions. Get up close and see these wild creatures frolic and laze about – a truly amazing Experience.
After a delicious two-course lunch, spend the afternoon at the Flinders Chase National Park. As you travel through the park, keep an eye out for echidnas, wallabies, reptiles, and koalas. Remarkable Rocks provide great photographic opportunities, and the Admirals Arch boardwalk takes you down a rugged cliff face to reveal the spectacular rock archway, a natural nursery, and a haven for playful long-nosed fur seals.
Your last visit of the day is to the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park to feed some kangaroos and get up close to the Kangaroo Island Koalas while listening to the Keeper talk about the cuddly mammals. There is also a possibility that you will see more kangaroos and wallabies on your return to Penneshaw for your return ferry and coach transfer back to Adelaide.
